Local historian Eric Villiers explains Armagh\u2019s connection with the famous Bront\u00eb family.<\/p>\n<p>This event will include readings from Charlotte\u2019s ground-breaking, powerful, and influential novels. Works featured will include Jane Eyre and Villette alongside the poetry and prose of her sisters, Emily and Anne Bront\u00eb.<\/p>\n<p>Readings will be performed by members of Armagh Theatre Group.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets cost \u00a35 per person and must be purchased in advance from Armagh Visitor Information Centre, tel 028 3752 1800.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>St Patrick\u2019s Church of Ireland Cathedral : Lecture on funerary monuments, 7.30pm<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Funerary monuments in churches often add richness and interest to in- teriors, and in this respect St Patrick\u2019s Church of Ireland Cathedral in Armagh is no exception: its collection of memorials deserves proper recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Professor James Stevens Curl has conducted a detailed study on the subject and his talk will take us on a tour of the Cathedral giving detailed descriptions and analyses devoted to the most outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets cost \u00a35 per person and must be booked in advance from Armagh Visitor Information Centre, tel 028 3752 1800.<\/p>\n<p>After the lecture please join the Dean of Armagh in his home for tea\/ coffee and refreshments.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Saturday 26th November, Georgian Day<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Armagh Public Library : Special opening, 11am-17pm<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Georgian building of Armagh Public Library will be open for Georgian Day.\u00a0 Living History actors will welcome and inform our visitors.<\/p>\n<h2>Armagh Public Library : Portrait Silhouettes, 1pm-5pm<\/h2>\n<p>Portrait silhouettes became all the rage in fashionable society of the Georgian period, when they were known as \u201cshades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shades were popular as mementos, intended to be given away, and rapidly became an integral part of Georgian society. The Silhouette Cutter will be at work from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>No 5 Vicars\u2019 Hill : Calligraphy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You can learn some new calligraphy writing skills in the company of another of Armagh\u2019s \u2018gentry\u2019 characters or discover the art of wax sealing.
