This lecture is the first in a six-part series exploring Irish history from the Plantation of Ulster to Partition, organised to mark the 250th anniversary of Armagh Robinson Library, Northern Ireland’s oldest public library.<\/p>\n
The lecture provides an overview of the origin and development of Ulster’s plantation towns. The speaker, Dr Brendan Scott, is Cavan County Council’s Historian-in-Residence. He has written and edited a number of books and articles on religion and society in early modern Ireland, including ‘Society and Administration in Ulster’s Plantation Towns’ (2019).<\/p>\n
The lecture was organised by Armagh Robinson Library, working in collaboration with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and part-financed by the NI Executive Office.
